So given the same interest rates, you'd lend to the Germans.

So Greece had to pay more in interest if it wanted to attract lenders.

And obviously they weren't all the same.

All those reasons why you might have preferred to lend to Germany than to Greece were still there, weren't they?

That seems incredibly stupid to treat different national governments the same just because they were all borrowing in euros.

But fine, I get it.

They were sheltering under the euro sheep and being only casually inspected by investors.
