In the United States, we're a lot more politically motivated. We're a lot more financially motivated, and those are the two biggest things that are why this has become so pervasive in different industries in the US, especially in healthcare, right? It's because it's become an ideological issue, the left has made it into a human rights issue, and it's also incredibly lucrative.
It's a lot harder right now in the US to make these big strides to protect our own children and young patients from being subjected to this.
Detransition isn't really recognized even as a phenomenon within the medical community. There's no standards of care. There are not even any billing codes for doctors or nurses to use when dealing with those of us. There's just not really much that they can do in the first place. Just how many children how many young men and women end up coming back out of the system and having outcomes like mine.
We're kind of getting an idea with how many of us are kind of just like coming out of the woods and talking about our experiences in increasing numbers just online. Like there are... I think tens of thousands, if not more, de-transitioned individuals who are on social media right now and on different platforms talking with each other and connecting over their experiences and trying to find help.
So, yes, thank you for having me on, Charlie. Two years in a row. Yes, I am a detransitioner and I actually went through the medical process of a gender transition while I was still a child.
I'm 20 years old now, but between the ages of 12 to 16, I was put on Lupron, which is a chemical castration agent, to stop my puberty, weekly testosterone injections, and then at 15 years old, before I could even legally drive a car, I had a double mastectomy.
Now, it was actually the surgery that led to me realizing that all of this was a mistake, and that one day I wanted to become a mother, I wanted to become a wife, and... I would not be able to do that. I potentially could have lost my ability to have children naturally because of these drugs and because I was put on them so young.
And I started speaking out publicly since I was at the age of 17 because I believe that children deserve better.
I mean, there's hundreds of thousands of kids who are going through this right now. Hundreds of thousands. In the West. Yes. All over the West. And there's actually a resource, the Stop the Harm website, that has a database of each state and all of their different clinics and all of the public insurance data on how many children. The Stop the Harm database.
It pulls from public insurance there from all 50 states between 2019 to 2023, where this has happened at different clinics, surgeries, and the chemical castration of children in all 50 states. Don't ever think that this isn't affecting your community because I've been all over the U.S.
I've been to a bunch of different churches, schools, and every single place I've been to, I've had somebody come up to me with a very similar story everywhere.
From the very beginning of Mighty Transition, I was immediately just ousted from the transgender community. I was told that it was all my fault, that I should have known better, even though I was a child. And they were cruel to me, the same people who celebrated me for having surgery, for going down this path and being encouraged to do so at every step of the way.
