And my dad was like, okay, when you get, no, we're not committing on any, we need you to like, think about it, write some pros and cons and do a number of things to kind of, before you make decisions.

So I got home and of course, like, you know, BYU and the Roger Reed and those guys were putting like the full court press and coming to visit and doing home visits.

And as that's happening, Duke gets commitments from Shane Battier, Elton Brand, William Avery, right?

Like three, two McDonald's on American and three like top 25 kids.

And BYU was not getting any commitments from like the local guys, right?

Like Britton Johnson goes and commits to Utah.

Michael Johnson commits to the University of Washington.

John Carlisle commits to, where did he commit to?

University of Utah, right?

So I'm like, man, I don't want to be the only one to jump in.

It was me and McKellie Wesley, the only two that had jumped in.

So I felt to achieve my goals and dreams at that time, I needed to play against the best every single day and in games.

And I needed to play in a conference that at the time, you could argue the Big East or the ACC were the best conference, right?

Probably because it was on TV the most.

I was like, I need to go play against the best.

So that was a big deal to me where –

you know byu isn't where it is now right it was a good school but like they were in the whack which was a different conference right um and it was just in my mindset was like i gotta go play the tide top of the top i think that's mostly every kid's dream so i kind of told my dad call you coach and i felt really really good about being part of that class of like the fab four is what they started calling it with us you know three mcdonald's americans and william avery i was like man we have a chance to like you know go to final four after final final four that's what you're supposed to think as an 18 year old kid
