And they're in our gym the next day, working out with a strength coach, working out with one of the assistants, getting shots up in our gun, in our practice facility, and I'm just like, man, times have changed.
Like where I had to like go to rally and like, you know, to find a gym to go work out and go to a weight room, maybe at 5 a.m.
when no one was in there, just to like, you know, because it was more of just like, like you just said, it was a breakup.
I didn't want to see them or they didn't want to see me or the fear of being kicked out.
It's different, and part of coaching is adapting, and so I've adapted to it.
But now kids leave for all kinds of good reasons, dumb reasons, solid reasons, all the time.
And when I first got into this, I used to hold grudges when I was at Utah Valley and people would leave.
Now it's like, I go down there right away, dab them up, let me know I can help.
Who do you want me to call?
Who can we talk to?
Here's why you shouldn't leave, but you know I'll support you, love you.
It's not like that back in the day, but it is like that.
And now there's money involved.
There's an opportunity to take advantage of your college career and be compensated in ways that you might never be compensated.
And take care of your family.
And so there's mental health involved.
We didn't talk about that.
No one knew what that was.
