And anybody who uses a return, there's a petrol station.

Almost immediately, you exit.

And we needed petrol.

And I said, look, why don't I go and stop and get some petrol?

And you can go and have a cigarette because he was smoking then.

And I could see his phone was just going mad with Twitter stuff.

And I looked at some of it, because in those days you could look at Twitter without being logged on.

And I could tell he was really nervous.

I guess, you know, obviously, because this was it.

The first gig on Top Gear, first solo film, F12 TDF, Paul Rickard, didn't get much bigger than that.

And I could tell he was really, really nervous.

And we looked at Twitter and the reaction was amazing.

Being in two bucket seats, it would have been a bit awkward for me to give him a big hug.

But I wanted to give him a big hug.

So I probably restricted myself to a chap's version of a quick squeeze of his knee.

Apart from Instant XLG, which for me was an amazing treat because I wasn't in Chris's world or the world that you guys are in now.

And it was the first night of the rest of Chris's life.

And I was so privileged to be there with him when we had a lovely day.

And I was so proud of him that the reaction was so positive.
