And then we come to the issue of figures.

And it's very interesting to me that you mentioned the NEBR study, which says six to eight percent less than it would otherwise have been.

We always have to put it in that way, of course, because it's not an absolute drop.

It's a comparison of what would have been.

And that's, as you say, is at the higher end of the estimates.

I find it very interesting that in a number of recent speeches, Rachel Reeves has used that figure and indeed not six to eight, but eight percent, the highest boundary of that.

Whereas actually in terms of government figures, I think officially they're still using the OBR estimate, which is four percent.

So it's kind of interesting that Rachel Reeves is using the higher figure.

But, of course, that has an immediate kind of inbuilt sort of trap, I suppose, or problem for Labour, which is the more that you say it's been damaging and the higher a figure you place on that damage, then the bigger the question mark of, well, why aren't you doing something correspondingly big about it?

Well, we know the answer as to why they aren't.

They aren't because of the red lines that they put down during the...

election campaign.

And Rachel Reeves was asked about this, I think, just in the last two or three days.

I saw an interview and she said again, well, you know, we have to keep the promises that were in the referendum.

Sorry, that were in the general election campaign, the manifesto.

And as to the question why, well, there are a number of answers, I think, to that.

But by far, the most important one just brings us straight back to immigration.
