Anyway, since I wrote the piece in 2019 saying that the company needed to be structurally separated, broken up, I haven't talked to Mark.
So I don't think he wants to talk to me.
I think I have a business sense and then, like, a personal sense.
The business sense is I think it's good to have competition.
It's good to have innovation.
And my concern in social media is that outside of TikTok, there's no real competition for Facebook or those properties.
You know, Instagram and WhatsApp...
were acquired 10 years ago.
And with the exception of the addition of stories on Instagram, I challenge people to say, what has really changed about those platforms in a decade since Facebook bought them?
The whole core of that case is that by buying them, they purposefully squashed them.
They starved them of resources, did not enable them to develop.
They neutralized competitors.
Well, the whole point of capitalism is to have fairer
competition that is you know orderly and um in some cases it can be pretty intense but i think the competition is a good thing uh because it it makes markets better so in that sense i think tiktok offers um some competition which i think is a good thing in more personal sense i use it for a little while but um it wasn't that i don't know the algorithm i think i never quite
I'm not sure the algorithm was quite good enough for me.
And so I dropped it.
I guess it's good for everybody else and not for me, but no, I don't know.
