I know it's easy to do this when you've just gone five and a third, no runs, no walks, whatever the box score was.
But he always does it, regardless of how well he does.
And I just have to mention that.
I love watching him pitch, and I also love watching him walk off the field.
Well, the velo's down.
I think that the life on the fastball is a little bit less than it was last season.
I mean, last season was pretty great for him, and there's no denying that.
The fastball command, the fastball life.
All those things, the spin on the breaking balls was about as good as it gets for Eric Lauer.
And this year just hasn't been that year for him.
And I think it comes down to pitching.
If he's not going to get that fastball back, if the life isn't there, if the spin on the breaking balls isn't there, he can't try to create that when he's out there.
And I think that's where he's getting into trouble.
He's trying to throw 93-94 when 90-91 is all that's in the tank.
And I think that it's important for him to remember that he has to stay within himself,
throw pitches that he knows he can throw, and most importantly, locate his pitches, command what he has.
And for whatever reason, he just hasn't found that mindset yet.
Hopefully he finds it today.
Well, he can still pitch.
