And, and I really got that sense of,

And in years later, obviously in 2002 and 2010, I really felt like the losses and the way that we played, it was just a gradual progression going upward, getting better and better with each successive game.

And I didn't really get that sense over there.

I mean, if I'm not mistaken, I think we only beat Kazakhstan 3-0, 3-1.

We certainly didn't blow them out.

You know, there's a number of games where, in 98 especially, where it just, we were finding ways to win almost in spite of ourselves.

And you could argue in 2010 and 2002, early in the tournament,

We struggled to score goals in 2002 as well and maybe scored a few more in 2010, but not against the U.S.

in that round robin game.

So, you know, and we only scored two and then the overtime goal in the gold medal game in 2010.

So I think that what I feel like that speaks more to how tight checking players of every country are laying it all on the line.

You know, every shift matters and players are treating it as such.

You know, I think that speaks to it more than, you know, also your best players.

You know, they need to be your best players and they need to go out and execute and score.

I mean, look at last year in the Four Nations.

You would think it would be high flying, a lot of goals scored, very tight checking.

A lot of good players canceling each other out.

with either A, how players defend, or B, how top players are being checked.

And so I think for me, looking at these first couple games today in the Olympics, you see the pride of players wearing their country's flag on the front of their jerseys and what you're willing to do to be successful and what an honor it is to play for your country.

You see guys doing things that typically you wouldn't see them do on their respective NHL clubs.
