So they have tried to spend money.

I mean, when you guys traded for Andres Jimenez, I kind of told you what he was about.

We couldn't afford him in Cleveland because we can't afford to have a nine-figure guy on our books who's all glove and no stick.

You could at the time, and it almost brought you a world championship.

But now that the offense has been this dreadful,

Now you're seeing how cumbersome that sort of contract can be if there's no offensive help whatsoever.

So I think they're going to have to have a deep dive, a total reevaluation of how this went wrong, and the answer alone cannot be injuries.

I think that's a disservice to the organization and to your fan base.

Yeah, I think that's part of the reason you won't ever know, because the baseball architects can hide behind the fact that there are so many teams in it.

So we're never going to truly know that.

I mean, it would be pretty obvious, I think, if ownership stepped in on a lot of these situations.

uh under normal circumstances and said hey i'm not taking on any payroll or we're not going to do this we don't want to give up our young guys we don't know exactly what the baseball format is going to look like financially moving on all that sort of stuff but this year it can hide under the fact that everybody's within three games of the wild card we just kind of have to take them at their word for it

I will say this.

I think there's a tremendous opportunity for some of these teams to reset on the fly.

Not total rebuilds, but I think teams like the Padres, I think that...

St.

Louis even, with the great year that they've had, I think that they could sell some pieces and be even better because of it.

Like, I don't think that they're good enough to win the World Series this year.

I think they're good enough to probably make it as a wild card.

But I don't think they're good enough to win multiple rounds before getting to the World Series.
