to the Middle East now, where it's understood the US and Iran have agreed to a framework to extend their ceasefire for 60 days.

US sources say it's yet to be approved by Donald Trump, but one signed by both sides will require Iran to remove all mines from the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days and scrap plans to charge tolls on the waterway.

It'll also open up a two-month window for talks on Iran's nuclear program.

In return, the US would lift its naval blockade on the vital strait and ease sanctions on the country, allowing it to sell more of its oil internationally.

Staying overseas and an Australian man is joining an international rescue mission as work begins to free five Lao villagers trapped in a flooded cave.

The group had been looking for gold in a mine last week when flash flooding blocked their exit.
