Because Peyton Watson got a lot better, you know, last season to this season, he didn't get this much better, right?
He didn't go from not having any offensive game to scoring 20-plus points in six games without Jokic.
That didn't happen just over one summer.

I think you're exactly right.
I mean, if you were to do the last couple years over again, you would have seen this.
The Nuggets would have known that P. Watt had more of this in him and maybe been able to put that into their calculation when handing out extensions last summer or just in their thought process at all when evaluating Peyton Watson.
This didn't happen overnight.
It's been building, and now he's finally getting the chance to show it
What he's been able to do, though, without Jokic has been unbelievable.
I mean, 20-plus points in six straight games without Jokic.
He doesn't need Jokic in the same way Christian Brown does to get going.
Christian Brown gets so much of his stuff off of Jokic, whether it's the transition finishes from Jokic's outlet passes, whether it's the split action where Jokic can feed him going to the hoop.
Yeah.
And, you know, he hit threes last season.
He can get his offense in other ways, but a lot of it is built off the Nuggets offense.
What we're seeing with P-Watt is that it's not Jokic-reliant.
And look, like Christian Brown.
He has proven to be a perfect fit in the Jokic offensive system.
