And I thought rugby, Singapore is a difficult choice to make, as you can imagine, and went out to Singapore Bini of 2019 and really led the build out of our

business there, a hugely enjoyable time working across the Asia Pacific region.

And then the middle of last year, they said to me, we're doing a bit of change over in the US.

Might you ever able to come out and come and help us out here?

So right now, really sort of overlooking what we're doing strategically as a business, not just in the US but across the globe.

And then from a MA perspective, what are the opportunities we might inorganically go after?

Yes, and in many ways, I'm fascinated as to why I was selected to do it, not really knowing much about a very diverse set of economies out there.

But it wasn't quite a sort of startup setup.

We had been in Asia for about 10 years before that.

And we'd done hard yards of planting the flags, opening offices, getting licenses, building the infrastructure, which is no mean feat.

I've seen many businesses go through those first few years of establishing

themselves and it is a tough journey.

So we'd done that.

But what we hadn't done is really started to scale.

And I don't think we had a real clarity around the strategy out there.

I'd argue that Markel in Asia, in its sort of first decade or so, was very similar to what many of our London market peers had done.

For years, London, and it still is the home of specialty insurance, but for years it it also was the
