I was good and could have walked on at Northwestern and and would have probably made the field hockey team and maybe the basketball team.
Um, I went to a meeting on basketball and decided, nah, I'll be sitting on the bench in Iowa City or Minneapolis on a Saturday night if I even make this team and 'cause Northwestern was really good in women's sports and cared
you know, uh cared very, very much, um, you know, about about women's sports.
So you've got me, you know, I've i I've described this, right, as this
you know, athlete, playing sports, loving sports, doing every, you know, uh every part of it.
And then what you said is absolutely true.
It's what I I wrote in in my father daughter memoir, which is
I thought I'd be a political report reporter.
And what does it what did this tell me as I was thinking this through?
Obviously years later writing that book uh came out in oh six.
Um but also knowing it before then.
Like what does that say if
A girl growing up
With all of the encouragement in the world, with great education.
With um parents who were just the most
you know, uh encouraging that any parent could be of a unique situation.
Like
You know what I mean?
Like um I if if somebody was walking around uh Toledo or Ottawa Hills and saying, uh girl saying, I wanna be an astronaut.
You know, people would have said
