There it turned out there were women writing sports around the country, but I didn't know it 'cause there's no internet unless I happened
on a vacation uh at Cape Cod, if we'd picked up the Boston Globe on the right day, I would have seen Leslie Vister's byline.
One of my best friends, great mentor, friend, and dear, you know, obviously role model to me.
But I didn't I didn't know Leslie Visser existed.
I didn't know Robin Herman and Lori Mifflin and and so many others were in New York getting started.
Um, Tracy Dodds in Milwaukee on her way to LA.
But
I didn't know.
So I never read a woman's sports byline other than the the sailing writer at the Toledo Blade, a woman named Shirley Levy, who was lovely, but I she was like a part-time, you know, I that she wasn't covering football.
I I didn't even know, you know, I probably never read much about sailing.
So I w any vacation, going to Chicago to visit all the relatives.
Grandparents grab all the newspapers.
There were what seven newspapers in Chicago at the time, the Tribune, The Sun, the Times, the News America, whatever.
And reading this sport section, never saw a woman's spyline.
