The very point you made in your introduction is

that beta agonists alone as a maintenance treatment for asthma are not safe and should not be taken without an anti inflammatory

But this is a situation that has happened in the US particularly because medications are very expensive and people often default to the treatment that works for them.

My long winded uh preamble was to tell you that the FDA mandated that all the manufacturers of these drugs conducted these studies.

So these are the uh Laxo Smith Klein studies.

And uh AstraZeneca has also published a study also uh this week in the New England Journal of Medicine demonstrating in adults the safety of their preparation in exactly the same way in adults.

uh and indeed um showing uh that not only are they safe and not inferior to the anti inflammatory alone, they are superior in efficacy.

And the Novartis company, which also manufactures these drugs, is

are still undertaking the the tail end of their studies and they will be published too.

So we will know across the board for this whole class of medications from um each of these studies.
