She's a tax attorney and wealth manager.
She's also the author of All the President's Money, a book that digs into the history of presidential finances.
Hi, Megan.
Hey, Christine.
Thanks for having me on.
It's a really fascinating topic, right?
It really is.
And it really, as someone who has dug into presidential histories, it is a situation without historical precedent.
So the president made more than $2 billion last year, more than half of that coming from crypto, cryptocurrencies.
He also earned around $80 million from settlements with media and tech companies.
I want to talk a little bit about the crypto sourcing here.
About half of the $1.4 billion the president made in crypto was with a group that licensed his name for meme coins.
He also made hundreds of millions of dollars from the Trump family crypto business World Liberty Financial.
The president says that all of his finances are managed by third-party financial institutions and the White House has denied any conflicts of interest.
You own a wealth management company.
How do you look at these crypto investments and the potential conflict there?
Because you have governments in some cases that have invested in the president's crypto businesses, which seems to blur the line between personal business and foreign policy.
Also last year, the president, he pardoned the founder of Binance.
Binance has been a business partner of World Liberty Financial.
The SEC also ended its oversight of meme coins, reversing a Biden administration policy.
