Uh so he'd gone with Guthrie to uh with Alec Sir Alec Guinness and uh Dameye Readingworth, uh and one or two others to help begin the Stratford Festival.

And so um I worked for Douglas in England for two years.

And he was

He he liked me.

Uh he was quite a bit older.

I was um

He was a great big socialist.

very exceptionalist

Uh and

Uh at at that time I I certainly wasn't.

I'd uh been in boarding school and uh uh was nestled much more uh

uh i on the conservative side.

Um but he managed to sort of um open me up

And say, Come on.

Open your mind, he said, after a couple of years, you you should go to Canada.

You should go where I've been and he had had twenty seasons or more at Stratford, uh but had come back to England to uh to start this theatre company.

And um

Uh and it was him who wrote to uh

The leaders of the land essentially who uh uh w involved in the arts of theatres and television and so on, 'cause they everyone knew him.

And uh and he said, Go to Canada.
