Whatever the calculation is, I think in each case, people can kind of make a rational choice.

And I think that... Look, I don't know enough about every personality, everyone's statements, everyone's flip-flops.

I mean, people change their minds.

But I think...

you have to figure out who is kind of maliciously undermining what we're trying to do, the goals we're trying to accomplish, and who is... Maybe someone made a mistake, but they're otherwise a good voice.

They can be reintegrated into a broader movement and bring some benefit.

So I don't know.

In some ways,

Not only my decision, we all have to make this collective and multidimensional decision.

But I think that you have to draw a fine line.

And again, Richard Nixon was really, I think, a great inspiration on this point where in his calculation with the Birch Society...

He came up with this ingenious strategy that he first failed on when he was running for governor of California and then succeeded with when he ran for president in 68, which was you don't want to directly antagonize the Birch Society or the Birch Society leadership or villainize the followers of that movement.

You want to create healthy boundaries.

And you want to thread the needle then to bring in all of the good people who have maybe indulged in a conspiracy theory, but are otherwise an important constituency, can bring energy, can bring in votes, can bring in whatever.

And you might deride that as cynical at Nixon's campaign strategy.

But look, we're in a, again, a mass democratic society.

You have to figure out how to get to 50% plus one.

And so

My general thing is you have to eventually come up with a character judgment.

You have to say, is this person a kind of decomposed, disintegrated character that cannot be relied upon?
