For me, the memory I have is Bear Bryant.
Bear Bryant announces he's going to retire.
The guy died before the next football season.
Joe Paterno resigns.
He dies before the start of the next football season.
So...
There had been this, you do hear this and I buy it.
I think when you're older, you're afraid that the minute you don't have that reason to get up in the morning, that it might all end.
So I get it.
I understand why coaches hang on.
I understand why journalists hang on, but you know what?
It never gets better.
The exit never gets better.
This is true.
So let's talk about the decision to write this book because I'm sure, look, you chose to make some things public that I'm guessing not every member of your family wanted public.
