I think I saw some data recently suggesting that in Q1 there were more than 9 million people went through Irish airports, which was a record for that period of the year.

So the stats can be a bit confusing, can't they?

OK, now you were writing in the Irish Times just a couple of weeks ago saying that the Irish government wants to increase tourism revenue here by 50 percent by 2031, which sounds great and good for the economy.

But you're posing the question as to where will people stay?

What's the problem?

Yeah.

Now, mind you, I had a story recently about the Dunlow Hotel in Killarney, which is due to get 100 million renovation from the German Lever family who've been invested in that area for a long time.

They also own the Europe Hotel.

And there's a third one, which is a kind of a country house style property that I can't think of the name of it off the top of my head.

But that's a huge sum of money.

Yeah.

But, you know, we're almost bursting at the seams with tourists at peak times in places like Killarney and Dingle and probably Westport and others on the Western Seaboard.

And we all know, I mean, this has been sort of well aired over the last number of years that hotels, particularly at the top end of the market, they're commanding huge prices per night.

for their bedrooms.

So why is there such a wariness on the part of investors to invest in properties here?

And what's the story in Dublin?

Because we are seeing new hotels coming on stream in Dublin all the time.

There seems to be a bit of a pipeline there.

So if we increase, and it's interesting, the language uses tourism revenue by 50%.

That doesn't necessarily mean you increase tourist numbers by 50%.
