Thank you for joining us.
We're going to take a short break now.
When we return, I'll be talking to Irish Times business reporter Ian Curran, who was in Toronto, Canada last week as part of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards CEO retreat.
Back in a few moments.
Welcome back.
This is Inside Business with Ciarán Hancock.
Now, I'm joined in studio by Ian Kern, an Irish Times business reporter who happened to be in Toronto last week lolling about as part of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards CEO retreat.
Welcome back, Ian.
It was a busy schedule, I know, and you got to meet some interesting people and hear from some interesting people, as well as mixing, obviously, with the 24 finalists for this year's awards and many of the alumni from previous years, including Dennis O'Brien, I think.
So tell us a little bit about the trip.
Maybe we'll start with Mark Carney because that came as a bit of a surprise.
You had to get up early one morning to go to Ottawa, to travel all the way to Ottawa to hear from Mark Carney.
And I think... What was the key message from Mark Carney?
Yeah, he's a man with Irish roots, obviously, and had an Irish passport up until taking office there in Canada when I think he effectively handed it back because, you know, he's Canada's leader.
So he felt he needed to.
OK, let's talk about some of the other people you heard from.
Mark Matthews of Julius Bear.
You said he had some interesting messages around the markets today.
So you got to meet the alumni and you also got to meet the finalists.
