Well, the thing is, community standards are a kind of, it's a developing thing.
So we've seen in response to these particular videos, they have changed the community standards and now include these driving the wrong way, down the motorway videos, these dangerous driving videos as something that will trigger a removal.
However, there's a lot of things on there that people feel breach community standards that we are consistently told, no, anybody who has gone to any of these social media companies trying to get information
content removed that they feel breaches the community guidelines maybe in some cases i have been told of people who have had videos and accounts impersonating them and they haven't been taken down so stuff that should clearly breach their community standards and you know by reading the community standards you would think that they would breach it but it just for some reason it doesn't and then some stuff is taken down by accident i've had that happen myself uh where stuff has been taken down and then reinstated on an appeal but just to give you some context
about the volume of content that is being posted on these platforms.
So there's an estimated between 23 and 34 million videos every day posted on TikTok.
That's about 16,000 a minute at the lower end of the scale.
In terms of the amount that we were talking about there, about the content that's removed, how much content is removed,
So they publish these trust and safety reports and transparency reports where they detail all the videos and the content that is taken down and the reasons for it.
So say stuff that's government requests, stuff that breaches their content moderation policy.
So for the first quarter of this year, 184 million videos, more than 184 million videos were removed worldwide.
That's about half a percent of all the content that was uploaded in that quarter alone.
For Instagram, there's about 95 million videos and
photos uploaded every day they don't break it out so you're talking about a massive volume of content but when you're talking about 99 or 98 or 94 of content that's still thousands and thousands of videos that are missed by these automated systems by moderation systems by human moderators because the volume of content up there is so vast and things change so quickly and videos are altered and people find ways around the content moderation policies because they are so woolly
Well, the fact that they can, I suppose, identify content automatically means it is possible to do it if, I suppose, the resources are thrown at it.
We have seen, though, where
content moderators human content moderators are being replaced by ai which is for some reasons you know is is preferable so i don't think that anybody should be watching child sex abuse videos or anything like that to determine whether or not they are worthy of being taken down that should be done by automated moderation however you know if you pull the the human air equation the thing here is context because it's very difficult with certain types of videos particularly when it comes to these driving videos it's
Hard to distinguish whether or not you were driving against the flow of traffic or driving on a two-way street and just videoing it off a dashcam.
So there is kind of, I suppose, there's nuance there that human moderators have to be, I suppose,
bring into the picture.
