Now, the FIFA World Cup kicked off in Mexico last Thursday evening, with matches taking place every day since, including in the US and Canada.
Toners is one of Ireland's oldest pubs, opening for trade in 1734.
and it's a popular spot for sports fans to catch up on the action over a pint or a cocktail.
Luke Stedman is General Manager there and in this interview he tells me about the investment Toners has made in new screens and other kit to attract fans, the impact on business so far from the World Cup and why Toners doesn't offer food or music to customers.
