He took it really seriously.
He's like, I've really gotten aversion to conceding goals.
I think it's really stupid.
When people give away goals, when people let down their team, when people forget what they're supposed to do, and they give a goal away, and they lose the game.
He took this kind of thing really seriously.
And what gave him...
what he thought was noblest in the game was that devotion to duty for the team, for the collective, right?
This is what he really wants to see.
Not like some guy, you know, throwing shapes, you know, an amusement arcade, as Big Ron would say, you know, lollipops and all this kind of stuff and scoring goals and then like forgetting to run back or like, oh, that's someone else's job.
That disgusted him.
Like he wanted to vomit when he saw that.
And so this is why he prized these kinds of teams that weren't like that.
And so that's his idea of what football should be like.
Now, luckily, it's a game that... Yeah, fullback goes over the halfway line and suddenly someone's legs are blown off.
That's not living.
Mistakes are made.
You can't afford to make mistakes.
The thing about football is actually you get to play again next week.
It's not like... You get to respawn.
