I will tell you, it's been having to educate people out there.

about the vouchers and what it really means.

And, you know, think about it.

Out of 40 senators, I think this was as of two years ago, out of 40 senators, only six of us have had kids in public schools within the past decade.

So we have a number of senators who haven't, you know,

A number sent to private school or homeschool, or just a number of them, again, haven't

Of course not.

And, you know, again, I'm a product of public schools.

That's what helped me rise out of poverty.

I'm just...

so grateful to my teachers, the teachers my kids had, who have had a profound impact on them.

And here's the thing, our public schools hold together our communities, and especially in rural areas where you take a look at, they've lost their hospital, they've lost manufacturing.

In some of those areas, the public school is one of the few things left, and sometimes in the top five of employers.

Not only would they be losing their schools, they'd be losing an economic lifeline.

But yeah, we've had these attacks on vouchers, you know, the past several years, you know, and they're marketed as, quote, school choice to help lower income kids go to a different school.

In reality, it's just a transfer of wealth.

Seven out of 10 vouchers go to families where the children were already attending private school, often in families making over six figures.

That is not at all what it has been purported to be.

Yeah, well, we settled that essentially with the amendment in 2022.

Some of the extremists in the legislature want to keep bringing that topic back.
