So in the UK, much like you, we have a problem with people who are not saving up enough money to retire on, around 15 million at the last count.
And I think a lot of us kind of mentally account for this in our minds by thinking, well, I'll just carry on working for longer.
And let's face it, we need something to do.
Work isn't just about earning money.
It's about how we have a sense of purpose.
We're getting out of the house.
We're meeting people.
It's a social life.
It's all kinds of things, not just earning money.
So it sort of feels like...
the easy answer in a way, like, okay, my pension's not great, but I can keep working.
But the problem is, as you've rightly said, is that for many reasons, employers are not wanting to hire people from midlife.
I mean, you talk about they're not on jobs anymore, but what we're finding at the
becoming much harder to to find now i mean this is always a feature of the employment market particularly in some professions like finance when you start to you know get into your late 50s and get very expensive traditionally banks have not wanted to keep hold of people very high earner they've built up enough money by that point to to retire often but they can develop what they call a portfolio career and do lots of little things um for for longer well i
I definitely think it's the fact that employers don't want to take on full time staff who are older and people are thinking, how can I get around this?
I'm going to have to go plural.

I'm going to have to set up my own services and try and sell my services into other companies in my industry now.

And for many people, that can work.
