And so she writes it and everyone's like, wait, this is so good.

We choose your script.

And Shonda ended up doing the voiceover for the test script and all of that.

And since they picked her script, this really gave Shonda the motivation to be like, wait, I actually have something here and I actually am a great writer.

So I really should keep pursuing this.

And she also said that she was so miserable at this receptionist job that writing was like the only thing that kept her sane.

Every night she went home and she wrote and she thought, if I don't write, then I'm literally doing nothing with my life.

And so she wrote like crazy to get out of the situation.

Wow.

Which is so hard because like, listen, we have had so many day jobs.

Yeah.

And you're so exhausted from your day job that by the time you get home, I can't imagine being like, and now I'm going to write a script.

And you're not really getting a lot of yeses.

People aren't really telling you, by the way, you're going to be big.

Yes, exactly.

It's like the opposite.

I know.

So I don't know how she found the strength to just keep going.
