Well, I live uh uh far away from my own young daughter for most of the time.
She's with me on breaks and on summer vacation.
So that's a a sacrifice that I've chosen to make and I think it's for her good.
I think it's for the greater good, the good of the the family system.
And I think it got me thinking about um
right sacrifice and wrong sacrifice, you know, parents have to sacrifice for their kids.
And I also noticed that when there's too much sacrifice, it can get pretty dark.
You know, we c get into territory of like martyring ourselves or not living our lives in the name of our kids, you know, and it's so much pressure for a kid to have to bear.
They didn't ask for that.
They didn't ask to be born, you know.
So I'm just interested in the process of a parent letting go and in the case of in the book, you know, trusting that the other parent is trustworthy and has got it.
And I'm really lucky that that's my situation.

That was the first piece of writing that I did that became that book, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness.
When when my daughter was born, I
took this questionnaire and I found the language just very confusing and baffling and um funny, accidentally funny, unintentionally funny, I thought.
So yeah, then I thought, well this should be an essay test and then I started writing these little
essays in response to the questionnaire.
