Now, the problem with that is everyone knows what you're up to.
When you say nice to see you, you're not fooling anyone anywhere.
You're merely accepting that you can't possibly remember whether or not you've met this person.
Do you remember that?
You said something when we first talked about this, which I think was so true.
You said it's about ego.
I've been on both sides of this equation.
Incredible as it is, some people have forgotten they've met me before.
In fact, an Australian celebrity who I interacted with recently, she and I had interacted many years ago and had, in fact, even a meal together.
Oh, and I saw her at a sort of like quasi professional gathering.
And she she didn't say nice to meet you.
But you know, when you know someone has no idea who you are.
And I could just tell that she just thought I was some kind of rabid fan.
And she's looking at me like, why are you talking to me as though we've had dinner together?
And so I did sort of say to her, well, we did have dinner together on a couple of occasions like a decade ago.
And you know what the worst is?
When you clarify that you've met them and they still don't remember.
