I never expected to be there that long, but thank the Lord I was.
I grew up with great respect for the police because in Englewood... Englewood, New Jersey.
Englewood, New Jersey, we knew the police.
We went to school with their children.
They knew our parents.
And so it was almost something that you may wanted to aspire to.
Going through the 60s and 70s, I lost total respect for the police.
because of their abuse of power.
I don't have a lot of respect for them now for that same reason.
Yet, for those who are walking that beat and who are trying to do the right thing, I have the greatest respect for.
And I know that we can be in a society that is policed in the proper way where the community as well is part of the health
of that community with the police.
I never had time to slow down long enough to watch it.
