That just blew me away in every way.

Reading is what informs my songwriting.

I read at least 8 to 12 books a month just to...

live in other people's shoes and maintain empathy so I can tell stories that are outside of my own experience.

I write a lot for women.

I write a lot for people that don't look like me.

And to do that, you have to understand and be open.

And so reading is a big part of my career, but also my personal life.

So I'm always looking for ways to understand the human condition better.

And every book teaches me something new.

They all don't work.

But this one

worked a little bit too well.

Even more than attention, it reminded me to give everybody grace.
