In my neighboring state of Wisconsin, the swing state of Wisconsin, the race for governor on the Democratic side, there was a local Milwaukee politician, David Crowley, who is considered the more moderate candidate, beat out state representative Francesca Hong, who
identifies as a Democratic socialist.
And this race was closely watched to see if it would replicate the results of another swing state recently in nearby Michigan in the Democratic U.S.
Senate primary race there.
So while that didn't happen, while the more progressive candidate did not win, it was still a very close race and really shows that there's a good amount of Democratic voters who are looking for some kind of change within their party.
And we should note, too, that Crowley will face Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany, who just handily defeated a political newcomer to win his primary.
And I think also just important to point out here the fact that, you know, Wisconsin is the swingiest of swing states.
And to Tam's point, it is always perpetually seeming like there is some kind of election going on there.
So it's kind of hard to compare Wisconsin to Michigan and especially hard to compare it to Minnesota, where I'm based.
Okay.
So there were two Democrats who were eating up all the oxygen in Minnesota.
They were Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, seen as the more progressive candidate, Congresswoman Angie Craig, who was seen as the more moderate candidate.
I spoke with both of them the weekend heading into the primary, and I asked Angie Craig, do you identify with the term moderate?
And she said, no, I'm a progressive candidate.
So there were some squabbling over
what the definition of moderate or progressive really is.
Peggy Flanagan, the lieutenant governor, she was the victor last night, and it was a wide margin, nearly 20 points.
She was the more progressive candidate, as I mentioned.
