And by the way, this isn't widely known, but those countries, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands,
were offered to join the United States.
The United States could have been a whole part of the Central Pacific.
It could have extended from Hawaii to the Philippines.
But the people voted through referenda to be independent countries and to sign these compacts of free association with the US.
But that's why the people of these three countries can live and work freely in the US.
They serve in the US military.
They have this very, very unique agreement that the U.S.
has not offered to anybody else because there was an acknowledgment by people like John F. Kennedy, George Bush Sr., people who had had friends die in the Pacific that they didn't want this to happen again because we knew that if a hostile foreign power controls the center of the Pacific, the U.S.
isn't safe.
It is.
And I would implore, impeach, I don't know how to say it.
Remember that there are Americans on the other side of the Pacific.
When you talk about the homeland, I mean, I think that, you know, this map I have behind me that seems to show America is incomplete.
The maps that you had on your walls of the schoolrooms growing up.
would have pieces of America in little boxes off on the corner.
But there are Americans who live an eight-hour flight west of Hawaii and a four-hour flight east of Taiwan.
Are they any less American than any other Americans?
I would argue definitely not.
