But it didn't happen.

And when the Trump administration came in.

There was the Biden administration had just put in something called EVS tap, which is basically an online form.

So the people who are pushing to let Chinese come without a visa were saying, don't worry about it.

We've got this enhanced vetting.

They have to do this EVS tap, which can sound quite convincing.

But when you actually look at it.

Why isn't it a visa?

Why don't they just have to go to the embassy like everybody else or the consulate and apply so that an American official can take a look at them?

Why do they get away with just doing this online form?

Why was that such an important thing for China and those pushing the Chinese line to try to advance in the U.S.
