That's just the way it operates.
Right.
Yeah, I mean, who knows?
I was talking to some experts a few weeks ago, and they were saying, look, he's going to see President Xi, which is happening Wednesday or Thursday, and he's going to want to have it sorted out before then.
And that hasn't happened, although there have been efforts to do so.
And obviously, yeah, you're right, he's under huge domestic political pressure.
But
Absolutely.
It's feeding through to poll support for the Republican Party.
It's a big issue.
Fuel prices are rising.
Prices are rising across the board.
The latest US inflation figures were showing a big increase.
It's going to make it very difficult for the new chair of the Fed to reduce interest rates.
So...
There's all that going on in the background.
So there's absolutely huge political incentive for Donald Trump to get something sorted out.
But the Iranians obviously see this and they're using this as a pressure point on him to try and get a deal on their terms.
And then the flip back is, well, if he agrees on their terms, the question at home is, well, why did you bother in the first place?
Because you haven't really achieved anything here in terms of getting commitments on nuclear enrichment and so on, which was the whole point of it in the first place.
