For someone who had all those privileges, I went off to college and made a total mess of my finances.

I got those early credit cards.

I thought I knew what I was doing, but I didn't.

And I used those credit cards to buy CDs.

I used them when I went out.

I used them for food.

I used them for entertainment.

I just used them as... It was almost like free money in my mind back then.

I was just like...

You know, I was a low-income student trying to make ends meet.

And then I had this resource that would allow me to do all the things without limit.

And then, you know, eventually the debt collector starts calling and I couldn't pay.

So my credit score got ruined, destroyed.

My confidence also got ruined and destroyed.

My self-esteem, all of it.

So...

you know by the time i finished college i was deep in debt like i said depression i was anxious and like i said the debt collector kept calling and calling and that's an experience that i don't wish on anybody so fortunately eventually i did figure it out and i did start earning more because at least at this point i'm a college graduate and i did start you know paying down my debt

And I started learning.

I started teaching myself.

I started trying to educate myself on what did I do wrong for someone who thought they knew what they were doing?
