this year and certainly if you look at over the past years the number of fires that have you know hit the country this is far and away one of the worst that we have seen in many many years as you say with temperatures looking to spike again it just adds I think to the worry that these fires need to be brought under control and you know possibly similarly to France as well perhaps

Spain have called a national civil emergency, which has given the national government the ability to coordinate outside or with the help of the autonomous regions.

Because what you have in Spain is things like health, like safety, fire, under the control of local authorities.

But Pedro Sanchez has said, no, we said a couple of days ago, this needs to be controlled nationally.

Because like you say, if temperatures go up, what you have is hotspots everywhere.

So even if you look at the area of Madrid, you know, it's almost surrounded by four or five different very, very hot and large fire spots.

While the population of Madrid isn't considered to be under threat at the moment, I was talking to an in-law who lives in Madrid yesterday and she said they're not worried about being burnt out, but the city is hazy with smoke from the fires that are surrounding the city area at the moment.

I suppose the people just don't seem to feel that there is any end in the short term and are worried about what the long-term future might hold.

I mean, in fact, the roads, there's 13 roads now closed or partially closed around the Madrid area because there's

Now we don't have a number on the amount of homes that have been destroyed yet.

We know that 170,000 people are currently affected, but they are saying to people, please don't come up to the area.

In fact, somebody has been arrested in one of the Avila zones because he was using some machinery and he said it was to cut through the fire zones, but he was doing it outside the control.

And like I say, even the fast train from Madrid to Barcelona, that is now affected as well.
