It's a different set up.
And I'm just listening there to to that fabulous taxi driver.
I hope he does very well out of cruise tourism because I'm going to look at Tenerife because that's the island I know best.
The cruise ships come into Santa Cruz to Tenerife.
So that's the capital up in the north, not into Los Cristianos, which would be a port down in the tourist zone in the south.
And that port caters really for ferries between the seven Canary Islands.
So that's used by a lot of people locally and by tourists who fly into Tenerife and go to the other islands.
The big ships do dock in Santa Cruz to Tenerife.
And I've just had a quick look at the schedule, the port schedule for the next couple of months.
This week, next week, there's two or three ships a week.
When you start going into October, November, you're looking at four and five ships docking a day.
And these are these very, very big, I don't know how many levels they have on them, but these are ships with thousands of passengers on them.
But it has brought a new kind of burst to the local economy at the urban level up there, because Santa Cruz to Tenerife, while it will have day visitors from tourists who fly into the south,
it won't have the same volume as it is now getting from cruise ship tourism.
So, you know, the spend is acceptable.
You know, 141 million was 2023.
That's the most recent figure I got for a definite spend from cruise tourism.
Because the port is within walking distance of the city as well, I think a lot of tourists, a lot of cruise tourists, will be able to wander around the city if they come here for a one-day stay.
Obviously, the spend is going to be limited to coffee shops, restaurants and maybe gift shops.
