The Murders in Our Back Yard | Podcast Episode 168

Well, the biggest thing that would have to happen is we would have to repeal the Clinton era act that capped CEO and ownership salaries and then make it illegal to take out loans against stock because that's how they're getting around it right now.

In the Clinton administration, they passed a piece of legislation that capped the amount of money that an owner and CEO can make from a company at $20 million. Okay. Because their whole mindset was like, it's immoral to be able to make more than that.

So the workaround that's currently happening is that a lot of the board members and owners and CEOs of these Fortune 500 and even smaller companies... are making money by leveraging their stock ownership in their companies. And they're going to banks like Bank of America and other places like that, and they're saying, this is the amount of money I have in stocks. Mm-hmm.

Will you give me a loan for $6 billion and use my ownership in the company as collateral? Okay. And they essentially just live off of loans from these banks. And then when it gets to the point where they want to up it or change it or whatever, they just refinance. And they never actually end up really paying back the loans. They just keep leveraging their stock options.

Worst case scenario, they sell off some stock to pay for interest for a loan, but then they just refinance again on their other stock options to then get more money. That's how the current billionaire class is existing. It's not that they're actually getting money from the companies that they are either owning or working for. It's that they're leveraging their stake in those companies.

So apparently we've had LED technology for quite a while, like several decades. The problem is, is that for a large portion of the history of LEDs, they only had green and red. So they were really only useful in niche circumstances where you could use green and red. Okay. Because the problem was is that without blue in that spectrum, you couldn't make white. Okay.
