And, you know, during the summer when we were busy, spring and summer and into early fall, I mean, we might go a month or two without a day off.
I mean, we were just working all the time.
And then when we had our regular days off, it was every other Sunday is what I got off.
And it was like, you know, I'm killing myself for somebody else's dream.
You know, I'm going to look back one of these days and I'm going to be 60 years old driving a wore out pickup.
You know, I've got to have doctored a lot of calves.
I've got to bale a lot of hay, but I don't have nothing to show for it.
I've missed all my kids' basketball games or, you know, football games, baseball games.
And I just didn't want to do that.
I wanted to be there for my kids, but I also wanted to have my own stuff.
So when I stepped away from that, I took a job selling Chevrolet pickups in our hometown.
Basically, in our hometown, it's small, 7,000 people.
You either worked at the penitentiary.
You worked at Fort Hood or you worked out of town and there was a job at the Chevrolet dealership and I was like, they own the Dodge store next door to it and they had a Ford store down the road so we could sell off all three lots.
I can talk to people and I got an hour off for lunch every day.
So we were running those background and those steers at that time.
I'm like, I can take my lunch break and I can run out to the place and check my steers and get back and not being too big a deal of buying.
So started selling those pickups.
And then my cousin, that's more like a brother to me, we're real close, came to me one day and said, hey, there's an opportunity to buy a tire shop here in town.
Would you want to go partners on it?
