Should we talk about what happens to the rest of uh Flowers for Algernaud?
Because probably
The people already know, but um one of the the problems with the surgery that Charlie Gordon and Algernon get is that it uh is not permanent.
The doctors think it's permanent, but it is not.
So in the kind of in the waning, not even the latter half, I mean he's aware that he's
uh about halfway through that he's going to He
Yes.
Is to
He uses the remainder of his time with his high intellect to to figure out what the flaw in this this surgery was.
But he does become he does end up where he started, essentially, um, Charlie.
However, he remembers the feeling, the emotions and some of the experiences of being smarter and he's uh glad to have had them.
That's what we were talking about earlier with with with always wanting to change and learn.
And I think that's what this book teaches you is that his intellect is not the thing gaining that that intellect where he's so much smarter than everybody.
The doctors who run the experiments, he fixes their mistake for them, um, is not really what is important for him and that the change that he wants to work on.
That the thing that he wants to work on the
Most is his emotional capacity.
And that's what sticks with him at the end of the book, right?
Because there's also the parallel tracks of his um, I guess, uh sexual awakening and emotional awakening, like learning how to deal with anger, um, learning how to deal with um his his lustful emotions, learning how to deal with his his love emotions, whether it's romance or love.
For um Algernon and how how to manage all that with his new intellect.
But those things are things that just take time and experience and they're not intellectual.
