And I say that with the greatest respect to all the teams that we've played.
If we don't compete, we will get beat on Saturday.
Simple as that.
Yeah, I have to say, guys, that I thought watching the South Africa game, rightly or wrongly, that we tried to go in a high press for about the first 15, 20 minutes.
And South Africa managed to play through that press because the timing of players getting up to the ball, the next players in behind the pressing player, it was just off slightly.
And South Africa got through us.
And then after the hydration break, which is awful, by the way, after the hydration break or the advertisement break, let's say, I thought Jesse made a real good tactical adjustment where he dropped the line.
We'll call it the line of confrontation when the ball comes into a sort of midfield area.
I thought Canada reacted really well to that.
I thought we looked much more compact and decisive as a unit defensively now.
And I think we either have to go high press and do it properly or you'll get destroyed or you sit back a little bit off and allow them to have the ball in the back four.
But then there are what we call trigger moments when the ball plays into a certain area where
Guys, we go guns ablaze and try to hunt and win that football back as quickly as possible.
Because if that pressure is disjointed in any way against this caliber of team, yeah, you're putting yourself under pressure.
Well, you used two words there, Blake.
Drastic changes come into the equation here.
Jesse Marsh has, let's say, during his tenure, has consistently played a very, very similar type of football to all of a sudden change things.
Now, unless Jesse has been working with the team, I used to do this when I was a manager of FC Edmonton.
When we were going to play the Whitecaps, as an example, in the Canadian Championship, I would start to work with the team
two weeks before we played the Whitecaps, but I'd do it in an afternoon session.
