But I was in America.

I was a long way away from home.

I wanted my degree more than anything.

And there was no really point coming home.

Nothing to come home to as opposed to family.

There was nothing.

There was no job.

There was no career as such.

So I decided to stay American.

And I got I looked at the screen and there was a choice.

There was four flights.

There was L.A., San Francisco.

There was Dallas and there was Houston.

And the first one, 730 in the morning, was Houston.

so i got to houston and checked into the double tree in uh outside the airport at houston i remember god every time i fly into houston i passed it on the way on the way out to the airport it's still there my god never forget it 42 years ago and uh stayed there and he says okay we got to houston right okay let me make some phone calls you see and uh it it became

It became very interesting that the phone call scenarios whereby a member of the golf club that that we were members of in Yorkshire at the time had a chaplain, a minister.

And he was the chaplain of the astronauts that used to come over to train with our Royal Air Force crew.

We had a space program, you know, alongside the U.S.

and our RAF trained with their guys and they came over and trained us.
