Cleve was a polygrapher.

He actually designed the system.

Well, this goes back to World War II.

He was in CIC, Counterintelligence Corps, had transitioned early as the development of CIA, as he was a polygrapher.

And he was very, he was big in astrology, by the way, as well.

He was then initially living in New York, and he had a very basic question.

He had a large plant there, and he says, well, I wonder if I pour water into the plant, how long will it take it to show up in the leaves?

So he put his GSR sensor on that.

And whatever happened.

But then he left it on.

It was just running in his apartment and that.

And suddenly started noticing every once, it was hooked up to the polygraph.

It was getting signal.

Every once in a while you'd see a signal.

Yeah.

Okay.

Well.

The question is, why is this happening?

So finally, he just found out that there was a connection between what was going on in the environment and the plant.
