So I may not be the best person to talk about getting the best value for money when it comes to Irish holidays because my experience of it in the past wasn't great.

I think people would be right to be worried.
Electricity.
Electricity and gas prices, effectively.
Now, it's impossible to say with any degree of clarity exactly what's going to happen.

But we do know that, according to the Minister for Energy, Dara O'Brien, electricity prices are likely to go up by between...
5% and 10%.
I think he's at 4% and 9%.
But roughly around, let's say the worst case scenario would be 10%.
Peter Burke, the Minister for Enterprise, suggested that energy prices could go up by 30%.
So if you say, okay, let's split the difference there and say if the cost of heating and lighting our homes climbs by 15%, Irish consumers would be looking at spending an additional €500 or thereabouts over the course of a year if you take the average cost of energy at around €3,000.
over a 12-month period.
So it will be a really significant financial hit for Irish consumers.
