You have
Caroline Leavitt, the press secretary, came out and called it unhinged and unacceptable.
You've had Stephen Miller say that this is just how journalists are now.
They're presenting themselves as journalists when they really aren't.
And even Caroline Leavitt said that they reached out to ABC.
ABC said that they were going to handle it.
So we know that there have been conversations between ABC News and the Trump administration.
Now, to have it lead to a firing without, like, less than a week since the suspension, just reflects the, like you said, the rock and the hard place that news organizations are in in trying to do journalism.
objective journalism, journalism that will anger people, especially people in power, but also having the space to do that without being sued by the president, without being blasted as fake news, which we've seen the White House loving to do with many news outlets, even those that they engage with.
They're fighting the battle of the death of linear television, where they're trying to keep their head barely above water to stay alive, to stay solvent.
And that's the business element of it all.
They're also battling the perception of being fake news, as Donald Trump loves to call them.
We heard Donald Trump call Terry Moran that in that interview right there.
So having to fight one battle is hard.
Having to fight two can almost seem insurmountable.
And when I'm talking to these news organizations, they want to do their job.
They want to be able to produce hard, heavy-hitting journalism that holds power to account.
