But unfortunately a few bad apples have chosen fame over ethics and are dragging sharks too far onto the beach to pose for photos before releasing the sharks, endangering the sharks' health, of course.
And drone's fault.
Well.
It's making it easier.
Mm-hmm.
It's not just drone anglers doing this.
Anglers should know how to catch, handle, and release fish in an ethical manner and have the right equipment to quickly release sharks back into the water.
Using a drone to assist in fishing has been explicitly banned in Hawaii, Texas, Michigan,
Kentucky, North Carolina, Alaska, and of course New Jersey.
Yeah, Texas was kind of a surprise.
Many of these state
bands.
They referenced the nineteen seventy one Federal Airborne Hunting Act.
That banned shooting, killing, or harassing animals.
Or birds from an aircraft.
But as with many written and unwritten drone laws.
The evolution of regulating this new technology is slowly catching up.
But you should always check with your local state wildlife agencies to get the most up to date local regulations before fishing with drones over any body of water.
