God, you know, the UAW for a generation had these crazy things like these two-tier contracts where workers who predated the Reaganomics era got all the benefits and workers who came in afterwards had to pay all the dues but didn't get any of the benefits.
And then they're like, they're turning around, they're like, well, why do these people not want to be members of the union where they pay for benefits but don't get them?

Before the unions capitulated to the neoliberal revolution, they had taken a stand, and it's bad that they're here.
But as you say, we have more people who want to be in unions than at any time in living memory.
The unions have more cash than they've had in living memory, and there are more members of the public who support unions than at any time in living memory.
If you wanted to get there, I wouldn't start from here.
But the people who organized unions, when unions were illegal, did something much more difficult than what we're proposing to do now.
They operated in an environment of deadly violence.
And Trump thinks that when you fire so many members of the National Labor Relations Board that they can no longer form a quorum and enforce unfair labor practice actions, that that's it.
Fire the referees so the game is over.
But that's not how it works.
When you fire the referees, the rulebook goes out the window.
And the National Labor Relations Act, which was the law that created the labor peace, half of it concerns itself with things your boss isn't allowed to do to you.
