By the time I got elected to the Senate in 2014, I was the first Republican senator to be elected.
Let me rephrase that.
I was the first Republican senator in 2014.
I was the first Republican senator in 10 years.
It's been now 12 years since that election took place.
So 24 years, I'm the only statewide elected federal official Republican out of Colorado.
So what happened in 2002 accelerated with President Trump as people from California and New England states moved in and as Republicans weren't carrying an agenda or a policy formula that appealed to the people of Colorado.
Yeah.
And I don't know if this actually if you can say that this is President Trump.
I think I think certainly the state has voted against President Trump.
And but if you go back to the election, his first election in 2016, he actually did better than Mitt Romney or John McCain.
Yeah.
And then in 2020, of course, that changed dramatically.
And so that period, sort of the people of Colorado rejecting a lot of the policies that the president was putting forward at the time.
But one of the differences between, say, a Florida and a Colorado, it's interesting.
People made sort of and I had this conversation with a couple of members of Congress from those from Florida, Texas, about this.
People made an ideological choice, most likely to move to Florida.
They didn't like what was happening in their state.
So I individually, ideologically am going to move somewhere where I agree with more.
When Colorado started to see this change in the early 2000s, the late 1990s, it was less individuals and more people moving with their jobs.
